Downtown Dallas Arts & Music Festival Returns Sept. 12-13 with Local Lineup
The Downtown Dallas Arts & Music Festival returns for its fourth year Sept. 12-13 at Main Street Garden Park, filling two days with local music, live mural-making and creative programming. The free, family- and pet-friendly event spotlights Dallas-Fort Worth artists whose work can draw less attention than touring acts. Organizers Frankie Garcia III, Christian Chavarría and Jonathan Camacho built the festival as a community-driven showcase of Dallas’ diversity. Almost every musical act comes from the DFW area, with selections made through a voting process designed to balance cultures and styles. Lebanese American singer-songwriter Dona Maria, who splits her time between Dallas and Los Angeles, is the lone exception. She has local roots and will donate her fee to charity. Nine artists will create 8-by-12-foot “LIVE Walls” during the festival. A Tuff Shed installation and Box Truck Galleries’ mobile art project will expand the park into an open-air gallery. Dallas College’s School of Creative Arts, Entertainment and Design will present student and faculty pop-ups, while UT Dallas will include up to 50 students in a festival-management volunteer program. Spring rain and scheduling conflicts tied to FIFA-related projects moved the festival from its usual April dates. Organizers expect it to return to April in 2027.
