7 Best Food and Drink Events in Dallas This Week

Canadian restaurant group Joey plans to open a new Uptown Dallas location at 2508 Maple Ave., next to the Old Warsaw. The restaurant is expected to begin limited soft-opening hours over Labor Day weekend, followed by a grand opening on September 10, according to a spokesperson. It will be the company’s second Dallas location, after Joey opened at NorthPark Center in January 2024. Founded in Calgary in 1992 by Jeff Fuller, Joey began as a pasta restaurant and developed into a premium-casual, globally inspired concept. The group now has 36 restaurants across Canada and U.S. markets including Seattle, California, Miami, and Houston. Its Dallas portfolio also includes Local Public Eatery, a related sports bar-gastropub concept that opened on Henderson Avenue in 2024. The Maple Avenue restaurant will offer dishes spanning sushi, steak, bowls, tacos, burgers, dumplings, fajitas, and lobster spaghetti. Menu examples include fire-torched sushi, truffle udon carbonara, tuna poke, Korean-spiced tofu bowls, sake-glazed sea bass, and top sirloin served with fried, fully loaded crispy mashed potatoes. The drinks program includes draft beer, wines by the glass, spritzes, martinis, margaritas, and frozen cocktails. Joey Maple will occupy a former Crab House space and include a curated art collection and private dining area. Its arrival adds to Maple Avenue’s growing dining scene, alongside Moxie’s, Catch Dallas, Uchi, and the forthcoming Elephanté. For Dallas, the opening reflects continued restaurant investment in Uptown and Maple Avenue, bringing another international chain and a broad dining-and-drinks option to a rapidly developing area.
