Dallas Cowboys: Jaydon Blue Misses Practice With Injury

Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Jaydon Blue missed practice while being monitored for a shoulder injury, head coach Brian Schottenheimer said. Blue was not involved in the skirmishes during the team’s scrimmage against the New Orleans Saints, but his availability for Dallas’ second preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals remains unclear. The Cowboys’ running back group has also dealt with other issues. Phil Mafah and Israel Abanikanda have rib injuries, while Mafah previously left a preseason game with a chest injury after recording four carries for nine yards and a six-yard reception. Schottenheimer said the team came out of its game against Seattle relatively healthy overall, despite several bumps and bruises. Other players are working their way back. Rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham is returning from a groin injury, while safety Zion Childress, who has a hamstring issue, and cornerback Devin Moore, who has a groin injury, are also working back into practice. Defensive tackle Jonathan Bullard will not practice because of a hamstring injury, and tight end Michael Trigg will miss practice with a toe injury, though Schottenheimer said the team is not concerned about Trigg’s condition. The updates matter for Dallas because preseason practices and games are helping shape roster decisions, particularly at running back. Blue’s status, along with injuries to Mafah and Abanikanda, could affect opportunities and evaluations as the Cowboys prepare for their next preseason matchup.
