BC Business House bringing long-lasting economic benefits after World Cup - Indo-Canadian Voice

During the seven FIFA World Cup 2026 matches at BC Place, Vancouver hosted BC Business House, a five-week program designed to link B.C. businesses with government representatives, international investors and visiting delegations. Presented under the provincial government’s Look West strategy, the program drew more than 2,300 participants from 25 countries and included 22 business-focused events. Sector showcases featured technology, life sciences, mining, energy, agriculture and food processing, tourism, and trade and logistics infrastructure, all identified by the province as priorities for growth and for broadening trade, investment and partnerships beyond U.S. markets. The province also used a 10-person suite at BC Place during the matches for economic-development and attraction activities under its ticketing directive. A voluntary survey of showcase participants found that 91.5% rated their experience positively, 81.2% said they formed meaningful new business connections, and 88.5% reported a more positive perception of B.C. as a place to do business. Leaders from the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, Simon Fraser University, Invest Vancouver, the AI Network of BC and CNANO Pharmaceuticals cited opportunities in artificial intelligence, quantum technologies and life sciences. For Vancouver, BC Business House was intended to translate World Cup visibility and international visitation into longer-term business relationships, potential investment and future tourism opportunities.
