20 Things to Do in Vancouver This Week: Aug. 24–30
Vancouver residents have a wide range of events to choose from during the week of August 24 to 30, from major concerts and sports to community activities, food, films and shopping. One of the week’s biggest shows is Noah Kahan’s Great Divide Tour stop at BC Place on Friday, August 28. The two-time Grammy nominee is scheduled to perform in one of only two Canadian cities on the 2026 stadium tour, which supports his fourth studio album. Several free or low-cost activities are also planned around the region. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority’s annual Port Day will take place at Canada Place on August 29, offering live entertainment, interactive exhibits, maritime demonstrations, career information and family activities. The event will finish with a performance by Vancouver alternative rock band Fake Shark. In Richmond, free Drive-In Movie Nights continue at Lansdowne Centre on Wednesdays, with screenings beginning at sunset. Sports and culture are also on the calendar. The Vancouver Canadians will play the Spokane Indians at Nat Bailey Stadium from August 25 to 30, while the Friends of the Vancouver Public Library will hold a large used-book sale at the Central Branch from August 28 to September 1. More than 50,000 books will be available, with prices starting at $2. Comedy options include Andrew Barr at The Alcove and the Kitsilano Comedy Classic on August 27. Elsewhere in Metro Vancouver, Coquitlam’s Kimchi and K-Food Festival returns with 114 booths, food experiences and a K-pop dance competition. North Vancouver’s Deckchair Cinema also continues its outdoor film series through August 27. The lineup is useful for Vancouver because it highlights accessible ways to enjoy the final stretch of summer, while connecting residents with local arts, sports, food, public institutions and waterfront activities.
