Sydney FC Hosts 100+ Children at Sky Park Connection Camp to Foster Community Ties

At Sydney FC’s Sky Park training facility in Macquarie Park, more than 100 children from across Sydney spent two days playing football during the October school holidays. Aged seven to 12 and from different cultural and religious backgrounds, they took part in activities run by Sydney FC coaches and trained youth leaders to help them meet and build friendships. The sold-out Connection Camp drew a long waiting list. It was conceived and funded by Meriton founder Harry Triguboff and his team, led by Ella Lizor. Triguboff established the program following the antisemitic terror attack at Bondi last December, saying friendships formed in childhood could foster understanding and respect across communities. Sydney FC owner and director Alina Barlow said the club was pleased to host the camp and hoped the connections would last beyond the two days. NSW Minister for Sport and Multiculturalism Steven Kamper attended, and the initiative had support from Liverpool City Council, Wests Tigers, Maccabi Australia and community leaders, including representatives of Sydney’s Jewish and Muslim communities. The October event was the second Connection Camp in the series; another is planned for December.
