Sydney Craft Week Returns in October 2026 With Nearly 100 Events

Sydney Craft Week will return from 9 to 18 October 2026 with nearly 100 events celebrating the makers, studios and creative communities shaping the city’s craft scene. Workshops, markets, exhibitions and open studios will take place across Sydney and surrounding areas. UNSW School of Art & Design will produce the festival’s tenth edition following the closure of the Australian Design Centre. Its continuation has been made possible by significant support from UNSW’s Faculty of Arts, Design & Architecture, alongside legacy funding from the Australian Design Centre. This year’s theme, “Community”, focuses on the connections between makers and the people who support, share and experience their work. Visitors will be able to learn new skills, meet local artists and designers, browse handmade goods and join creative activities for a range of ages and abilities. The program will also offer opportunities to see where makers work and speak with the people behind the objects on display. Professor Alison Gwilt, head of UNSW School of Art & Design, said the festival reflects the university’s commitment to creativity, sustainability and community engagement. She said it champions sustainable making and supports creative industries, while encouraging wellbeing through creativity and skill-building. This year, those aims will be brought together in nearly 100 events running over ten days, from 9 to 18 October.
