Madrid hosted more than 51,000 meetings, conferences and related events in 2025, generating an estimated economic impact of over €5.5 billion, according to a report on meetings tourism. Other industry figures put annual activity at around 55,000 events and its impact above €5.6 billion. The source does not establish whether the estimates use the same methodology. The city’s calendar spans professional congresses, trade fairs, concerts, fashion shows and international sport. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and Fruit Attraction attract visitors from different sectors, while meetings and conventions sustain work for organizers, venues, hotels and technical suppliers. Spending from large events reaches beyond their venues. An official NFL game drew about 90,000 attendees, according to figures presented at an industry gathering. Visitors stayed an average of four days in Madrid and spent an average of €470, with accommodation, restaurants, transport and leisure businesses among those serving them. Madrid has won the World Travel Awards title of Europe’s leading meetings and conference destination for the ninth consecutive year. It also received world and European awards for incentive travel at the 2026 World MICE Awards. It will compete for the World Travel Awards global title against destinations including Buenos Aires, Dubai, Las Vegas and Hong Kong at a ceremony scheduled for December 12, 2026.
