Houston Hispanic Heritage Month 2026 Events Guide
From Brazilian-Cuban sandwiches to symphonic celebrations, Houston will mark Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 with food, art, performances and community events honoring the histories, contributions and cultures of Hispanic and Latino communities. More than 3 million Houstonians identify as Hispanic or Latino, placing Houston among the nation’s largest communities, with the third-largest population. The city’s dining scene spans flavors from across Latin America. Suggested stops include Yuma for Brazilian-Cuban sandwiches; Maximo and several restaurants led by chef Hugo Ortega for Mexican cuisine; Latin Bites for Peruvian lomo saltado; CasaEma for suadero chilaquiles; and Mi Pueblito Restaurant for Colombian dishes. Downtown, Connally Plaza offers a window into Mexican-American history through Jesse Sifuentes and Laura López Cano’s mural, *Mexican-American History and Culture in 20th Century Houston*. The work depicts people, places and events that helped shape Houston. Across the city, murals by Jatziri Barron, W3R3ON3 and Alex Arzu add to the visual landscape, while the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston holds more than 2,000 works by Latino artists. Free performances begin with Ballet Folklorico Herencia Mexicana de Houston at the Children’s Museum on September 17, followed by Fiesta Sinfónica with the Houston Symphony on September 18. Día de la Hispanidad arrives at Miller Outdoor Theatre on September 26. Miller Outdoor Theatre will also present the 47th Annual Festival Chicano from October 1 through 3, with Marcos Orozco, Little Joe y La Familia and David Lee Garza on the lineup.
