Harwood Hospitality Group plans to open Docent Steak near Uptown Dallas on October 1, with OpenTable reservations available starting September 16. The restaurant is located at 2801 N. Harwood St. in the Harwood No. 14 development and will include fine dining, a wraparound patio, a lower-level drinks-and-TV space, and private dining rooms accommodating groups of up to 80 guests. HWD Beef, Harwood’s exclusive premium beef supplied by ranchers in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, anchors the menu. Offerings include filet mignon, ribeye, porterhouse, dry-aged Texas Wagyu, Japanese A5 Wagyu by the ounce, and rotating Kobe beef flights. The broader selection includes lump crab cakes, tempura lobster, Texas bison filet, rack of lamb, salmon, and miso Chilean sea bass. General manager Rhea Knight, a longtime Dallas restaurant professional who completed the Court of Master Sommeliers Americas’ Introductory Sommelier program, will direct front-of-house operations and the wine and beverage program. Along with classic cocktails, the bar will serve the Strawberry Lychee Martini, Tamarind Buck, and the Bread & Butter, which combines reposado tequila, grapefruit, and bread-and-butter brine. More than 100 pieces from the Barbier-Mueller Collection, including samurai art, armor, textiles, sculptures, and historic equestrian objects dating as far back as the 16th century, will fill the two-story restaurant. Hours are 4-10 pm Monday through Thursday, 5-11 pm Friday and Saturday, and 5-10 pm Sunday.
