Camden Village Secures $120K NSW Grant for Events and Promotions
Camden Village will receive another year of events, promotions and local initiatives after Spirit of Camden secured $120,000 through the NSW Government’s Uptown Grant Program for the second consecutive year. The funding is intended to support activity across the town centre and strengthen Camden Village’s role as a destination. Spirit of Camden chair Matt Glynn said the renewed grant recognised work already under way to bring businesses, community organisations and residents together. He said the broader aim was to give visitors more reasons to come to Camden, stay longer and experience what the town has to offer. The coming program will include Spring into Camden Village, Op Shop Hop, Christmas shopping activities, Village Gatherings and the SPINOUT Rock and Roll Festival. District Coordinator Melissa Musgrave said the funding would help the organisation build on momentum already created in the town centre, while continuing to encourage participation from local businesses, groups and individuals. Camden Village is among 41 districts in 15 local government areas funded through Round 4 of the Uptown Grant Program. Delivered through the NSW Government’s Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner, the program aims to connect businesses and communities, strengthen local precinct identities and encourage people to visit and spend time in town centres. The news is relevant for Camden because it provides support for a continued calendar of local activities and collaboration under the shared Camden Village identity. It also gives local businesses, community partners and residents opportunities to take part in efforts to increase visitation, participation and engagement in the historic township.
