Nike and University of Miami Announce New Multi-Year Partnership
Nike and the University of Miami have announced a new multi-year partnership set to begin in July 2027, bringing the Hurricanes back into the Nike family. The agreement reunites two brands with a long shared history: Miami became the first university to sign an all-sport partnership with Nike in 1987. Their earlier relationship was associated with competitive success, including Miami’s 2001 football national championship. The new deal is centered on athlete innovation, performance and opportunity, according to the announcement. Nike will supply Hurricanes teams with uniforms, footwear and apparel, while also expanding retail offerings for Miami fans and producing premium collections inspired by defining eras and moments in the university’s athletic history. Miami will also join Nike’s Blue Ribbon Elite program, an initiative spanning athletes across sports and designed to reshape collaboration in the NIL space. Nike said it will develop tailored opportunities for Miami student-athletes and work with the university to introduce its first Blue Ribbon Elite class. The partnership will give Miami athletes access to resources from Nike’s Sport Research Lab, where environments can replicate a wide range of training conditions to help athletes optimize performance. University of Miami President and CEO Joe Echevarria said Nike understands what makes “the U” distinctive and that the agreement places student-athletes “in the best company in sport.” The partnership begins in July 2027.
