Madrid City Council is marking European Mobility Week with a citywide programme promoting sustainable, safe and inclusive transport. Under the slogan “Mobility for All People,” the week’s activities will address accessibility, road safety, public transport, cycling, health and environmental sustainability for residents of all ages. The central event, the Mobility Festival, will take place on Sunday, September 20, along the Atocha-Cibeles axis. The route will host demonstrations and activities focused on how people travel around the city. Visitors can learn to cycle, discover EMT Madrid’s transport history and view 11 historic buses, including the 1948 GUY Arab III, the oldest vehicle in the EMT Museum. The display will also feature Pegaso models, an Irizar ieTRAM electric bus and an immersive simulation of the future Madrid Cable Car. Mobility Agents will lead road-safety circuits featuring skills tests, safety challenges and empathy exercises adapted to different age groups. Municipal Police will exhibit drones and emergency vehicles, while ReMAD will introduce its bicycle and scooter exchange platform. Madrid Salud will provide accident-prevention and health-promotion activities, alongside CuboGym sessions and a roller disco on Paseo del Prado. Environmental Education Centres, Madrid Ambiental, taxi representatives, Calle 30 and road-safety organisations will join the programme. Municipal district boards will also organise exhibitions, bicycle-repair workshops, scavenger hunts and walks across Madrid, bringing European Mobility Week beyond the city centre.
