The Community of Madrid drew nearly €16 billion in international investment last year, representing 52% of Spain’s total, regional economy minister Rocío Albert said at the opening of the third Madrid Investment Forum. The regional government organized the forum to present Madrid to investors from Spain and abroad. Albert identified trust, stability and the capacity to create opportunities as factors in attracting investment. The regional government attributes Madrid’s growth to economic freedom, legal certainty and public-private cooperation. It describes the region as Europe’s fourth-largest financial centre and a major technology hub in southern Europe, with strengths in aerospace, healthcare, finance and artificial intelligence. The government has promoted Madrid in markets including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Mexico and Asia. The forum will continue in Valdemoro with discussions on artificial intelligence and logistics, followed by sessions on health innovation, defence technology and reconstruction in the Sierra Oeste. Tourism, rural development and entrepreneurship are scheduled before the event ends. The government also plans to launch Madrid Abierto, its first international economic strategy, to connect small and medium-sized businesses with investors around the world.
