Children’s Museum Houston Storybook Gala Raises $1.3 Million

Published by Houston · Houston · 14 days ago

A carriage for photos and a fog-filled entrance greeted more than 500 guests at the Corinthian for Children’s Museum Houston’s Once Upon a Time: A Fairytale Fashion Gala. The black-tie crowd wore whimsical costumes and formal eveningwear, with heroes and villains sharing the ballroom as the museum encouraged adults to embrace their inner child. Jessica and Michael Bertuccio and Bahareh and James Flavin chaired the gala. Lauren and Max Barrett and Lilly and Harrison Cullen served as underwriting chairs, while Alex Butt and Claire Virga led the auction. Auctioneer Brittany Franklin called for bids on a Mexican estate getaway, a Riviera Maya retreat, VIP Houston sports experiences and a chance to throw a ceremonial first pitch at an Astros game. A silent auction and two diamond giveaways added to the fundraising. Cassie Brothers won diamond earrings in the raffle, and Nina Rand claimed diamond studs in a paddle sweep. The Avondale Orchestra kept guests dancing, with chicken and waffles and truffle fries served late in the evening. The celebration brought Houston supporters together around the museum’s work with children and families and raised a record $1.3 million for Children’s Museum Houston’s educational programs and outreach.
