Published by United States · Jersey City · 20 days ago

From Oct. 1 to 4, the Jersey City Art & Studio Tour will bring exhibitions, performances, murals and studio visits to neighborhoods across all six wards. In its 37th year, JCAST gives residents and visitors four days to meet artists and explore galleries, cultural spaces and public art throughout the city. This year’s theme, “Unbounded Nature,” invites artists and audiences to consider nature without limits or boundaries. Producer Atim Annette Oton described the tour as an invitation to experience Jersey City differently. Most events are free, though some require tickets. Opening night at 353 Central Ave. in the Heights includes an exhibition and the JCAST Legend Awards. This year’s honorees are Diane Dragone, founding director, choreographer and teacher of The KennedyDancers School, and Ben Jones, who taught art at New Jersey City University for more than 40 years. Elsewhere, exhibitions feature 16 artists at Liberty State Park and 17 at the Bethune Center. The schedule also includes an art happy hour at 902 Brewing Company, a New Jersey Symphony chamber concert on Provost Street and a Heights photowalk led by Lalea Raymond. JCAST closes Oct. 4 with a party from 7 to 9 p.m. at Vanilla Skies, 333 Washington St.
