US Tourism Adds New Attractions, Scenic Trains and Food Experiences
Rockefeller Center’s ice rink reopened on October 10, 2026, for its 90th season. It is one of the winter attractions featured in a United States tourism season stretching across 2026 and 2027. At Brand USA Travel Week UK & Europe, the country’s tourism promotion organization also highlighted cultural openings, historic anniversaries and scenic rail journeys that take visitors beyond familiar stops. San José, California, will mark its 250th anniversary in 2027, when the country will also commemorate 200 years of railroad history. Virginia will celebrate the centenary of the Bristol Sessions, recordings associated with the development of modern country music. Plans elsewhere include an expansion of Detroit’s Motown Museum, the opening of Portland’s James Beard Public Market and the world premiere of *Star Wars: The Experience* in Philadelphia. Boulder, Colorado, will host the Sundance Film Festival, while Washington, D.C., will host the 2027 NFL Draft. Back at Rockefeller Center, private holiday chalets overlooking the rink and Christmas tree return November 6. A new Skate House and VIP lounge are scheduled to open November 14. Six additional anniversary chalets, each accommodating up to eight people, are planned for November 20. Brand USA also points to Christmas celebrations in Leavenworth, Washington, and coastal seafood experiences in Florida, where October begins a popular season for seafood lovers. Rockefeller Center’s rink receives more than 250,000 skaters a year.
