Portland Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 Events: Lanterns, Mooncakes and Cultural Programs
Lanterns, mooncakes and harvest-moon traditions will fill Portland-area venues during the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival. Observed on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, the holiday is celebrated across China, Vietnam, Korea, Japan and Asian diaspora communities with reunions, gratitude and moon viewing. The free Portland Mid-Autumn Festival will return to Shun Fat Supermarket in Southeast Portland for its fifth year on Sept. 12-13. Organized by the White Lotus Foundation, the two-day gathering will feature more than 100 vendors, mooncake samples, cultural performances, children’s activities and a lantern parade, with free paper lanterns available. More than 10 showcases will present music, dance, martial arts and other Asian traditions. The Portland Asian Mid-Autumn & Harvest Festival Gala follows Sept. 20 at the Newmark Theatre. Presented by the Shenzhen Business Chamber of Commerce, the ticketed evening uses the theme “East Meets West—Tradition, Modernity, Creativity” and includes music, dance and cultural performances. Lan Su Chinese Garden will offer daytime programs and illuminated evening events from Sept. 25-27, with crafts, storytime, a marketplace, mooncake workshops and a lantern parade. GeekEasy Cafe begins no-bake snowskin mooncake classes Sept. 13, using molds in floral designs as well as Hello Kitty and Doraemon shapes. Multnomah County Library branches will host free activities through Oct. 10, including bilingual storytimes, guzheng music, rabbit-lantern making, crafts and mooncakes.
