Kacır calls for faster green transition in Turkish industry
Turkey is making strides towards a greener future, with Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır emphasizing the urgent need for the country to adopt circular economy and zero-waste practices. Speaking at the launch of the book “Zero Waste at the Poles,” Kacır highlighted the importance of integrating high-tech manufacturing with sustainable production methods. This initiative aligns with Turkey's broader goals of enhancing its industrial capabilities while being environmentally responsible. The Zero Waste Initiative, launched in 2017, has been a cornerstone of Turkey's environmental strategy. Kacır noted that the initiative has been complemented by scientific expeditions to polar regions, where researchers study climate change and its impacts. These expeditions, which have involved around 300 scientists, serve as vital research opportunities, providing insights into both past and future climate conditions. As Turkey aims to establish a permanent scientific research station in Antarctica, it is also looking to expand its influence in the Arctic. Kacır's vision reflects a commitment to not only advance Turkey's scientific endeavors but also to foster international cooperation in addressing global environmental challenges. This dual focus on innovation and sustainability positions Turkey as a proactive player in the global transition towards a circular economy and zero waste.
