Madrid Region Backs Designer Fashion as Cultural and Tourism Driver

The Community of Madrid is promoting and supporting designer fashion as a cultural, industrial, tourism and branding asset for the region. Its approach covers both the creative and economic development of the sector. The regional government’s tourism strategy aims to position Madrid as a destination linked to culture, lifestyle and high-value experiences. It sees the fashion industry as a way to attract visitors, strengthen the city’s international profile and create new opportunities for local businesses and professionals. Culture, Tourism and Sport Minister Mariano de Paco Serrano underlined this policy after attending two shows held as part of Madrid es Moda. Tailor and designer Félix Ramiro presented his latest collection, *College*, at La Nave. Meanwhile, the Dolores Promesas x Duyos show took place at the National Archaeological Museum. Both brands are members of the Asociación de Creadores de Moda de España (ACME). The regional government works closely with the association through an annual financial contribution and by providing a commercial space and a property to support its activities. The news is relevant for Madrid because it highlights fashion’s role beyond clothing: as a tool for cultural promotion, tourism and the international visibility of the region.
