Los Angeles offers a packed weekend of music, food, film and cultural events, with major gatherings spread across the city and nearby Orange County. Echo Park Rising returns for its 16th year as a free, all-ages festival celebrating the Eastside. For the first time since the pandemic, it will run for two days, bringing hundreds of local bands and comedians, art installations and family activities to venues and streets around Echo Park. Music is a central focus of the weekend. David Byrne will perform on two consecutive nights at the Hollywood Bowl while touring behind *Who Is the Sky?*, his new album with Ghost Train Orchestra. The Leimert Park Jazz Festival is set for the rooftop deck at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, and TreePeople plans an ambient concert followed by a moonlight hike. On the Sunset Strip, Spinning Sunset will feature more than 80 booths from record stores and vintage vendors, vinyl DJ sets, a car show, food trucks and a beer garden. Food events include the final days of Dine L.A. Restaurant Week, which ends Friday, and Taqueando After Dark, a two-night taco festival at Level 8 DTLA featuring chef Ray Garcia. Other options include the Los Angeles Hungry Ghost Festival near Chinatown, outdoor classic films in Glendale and the Bob Baker Marionette Theater’s new *Choo Choo Revue*. Outside the city, Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival debuts at Irvine’s Great Park on August 29, with a women-fronted lineup including Chappell Roan, Mitski, Doechii and Stevie Nicks. For Los Angeles residents, the weekend highlights the range of accessible local activity, from free neighborhood programming and cultural traditions to major concerts, dining events and family-oriented entertainment.
