Newark’s 24 Hours of Peace Festival Brings Community Together Downtown
Downtown Newark came alive with music, food, art and a shared call for nonviolence as the city closed out Peace Week with its annual 24 Hours of Peace festival. The free event, held at the intersection of Halsey and Market streets, invited residents to gather for an all-night celebration centered on community, creativity and connection. Hip-hop performances, local artists and neighborhood vendors helped turn the area into a welcoming space for people of all ages. More than a festival, 24 Hours of Peace offered a reminder that public spaces can bring people together around a positive message. Families, young people, longtime residents and visitors had the chance to enjoy local talent while supporting small businesses and artists from the city. Organizers and attendees used the event to highlight the importance of unity and peaceful engagement in Newark.
