Surrogacy mix-up leaves couple devastated

Just read about a couple who discovered their twins weren't biologically theirs due to a surrogacy agency's mistake. I can't imagine the heartbreak. It makes me wonder about the safeguards in place for such life-changing processes. How do you even begin to cope with something like this?
