Over 130 Catholic sisters from around the world gathered in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, for the Catholic Sisters Initiative Convening, organized by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. This event, held from June 10-12, 2026, focused on the theme “Journeying Together in Solidarity and Hope,” emphasizing the importance of collaboration in strengthening communities and promoting the common good. Participants shared their experiences and insights on various challenges and successes in their ministries, fostering a spirit of solidarity and advocacy for human dignity. Keynote speaker Fr. Hans Zollner highlighted the necessity of grounding safeguarding efforts in the teachings of the Gospel, emphasizing that the core of these efforts is Jesus Christ. He praised the Hilton Foundation for its support in empowering sisters to tackle pressing issues such as human trafficking and youth education. Sr. Jane Wakahiu encouraged attendees to embrace openness and listening, noting that over 25 million people have benefited from the Foundation's initiatives. The convening served as a vital platform for reflection and networking, reinforcing the need for collaboration within the Church. As participants committed to deepening their shared mission, they left with a renewed sense of purpose, ready to address contemporary societal challenges through education and community engagement.
