In a recent address, Maharashtra's State Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif emphasized the urgent need for private institutions to extend dental care services to rural areas. He highlighted the increasing prevalence of oral health issues, such as oral cancer, tooth decay, and gum diseases, which are particularly concerning in regions with limited access to dental healthcare. Mushrif urged these institutions to lead preventive healthcare initiatives and awareness campaigns to educate citizens about oral health. During the 20th graduation ceremony at the MA Rangoonwala College of Dental Sciences and Research Centre, Mushrif inaugurated a cutting-edge digital simulation lab designed for pre-clinical dental training. This facility features 100 workstations equipped with advanced dental mannequins, modern lighting, and high-speed dental tools. Such resources allow students to practice and refine their skills in a realistic environment, enhancing their confidence and preparedness for real patient care. Mushrif also noted the transformative role of artificial intelligence and digital tools in dentistry. With innovations like the AI app Mukhia Plus, developed by a Pune-based company, the potential for early detection of oral lesions is significantly improved. Furthermore, the state's inclusion of dental treatments under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana aims to make oral healthcare more accessible and affordable for all citizens.
