At the Yale School of Public Health, a culture of innovation bridges gaps between science and society
At the Yale School of Public Health, innovation is seen as a vital bridge between scientific knowledge and societal impact. Kaakpema “KP” Yelpaala, a senior fellow and lecturer, emphasizes that true innovation involves translating existing knowledge into scalable solutions that improve healthcare access. His new role as faculty director of the Future of Health Innovation Hub aims to redefine health entrepreneurship and foster interdisciplinary collaboration among students, faculty, and industry partners. This initiative builds on YSPH's history of supporting public health entrepreneurship, having funded numerous startups and provided resources to students. By focusing on real-world applications of research, the hub seeks to enhance population health and well-being through innovative solutions.
