Napa Wine Label To Support Jobs For Adults With IDD

Tyler and Kelly Mullman have combined their passion for wine with a commitment to social causes by launching Cana Ranch, a wine label dedicated to supporting employment and job training for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Their journey began during a trip to Napa Valley for their first wedding anniversary, where they fell in love with wine and the community surrounding it. This experience inspired them to create a business that not only produces quality wine but also uplifts marginalized individuals. The couple's dedication to charitable work intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic, prompting them to seek a meaningful career change. They began volunteering at Belong Kitchen, a nonprofit that employs adults with developmental disabilities, which deepened their understanding of the challenges faced by this community. Recognizing that over 80% of adults with IDD struggle to find meaningful work, they envisioned a vineyard and winery where individuals of all abilities could contribute. Cana Ranch's first vintage, a 2024 Cabernet Sauvignon, is crafted in collaboration with winemaker Richard Frederick. A portion of sales will support job training initiatives, and the couple aims to establish a vineyard that fully integrates adults with IDD into its operations. Their efforts reflect a commitment to making a positive impact while producing exceptional wine, embodying the spirit of generosity that inspired their venture.
