The inaugural "Let’s Hainan" Media Salon recently took place in Wanning, Hainan Province, China, marking the beginning of the region's "Year of Marine Tourism." Hosted at the country's first Olympic-level artificial wave pool, the event showcased Hainan's commitment to becoming a premier destination for surfing and water sports. With a diverse array of activities planned, including the East Coast Surfing Tour and the Island Lights journey, visitors can expect a vibrant marine experience tailored to all skill levels. The salon featured a roundtable discussion with notable figures, including surfing champion Huang Yingying and international surfing enthusiast Ivan Maverick. They shared insights on Wanning's unique wave conditions and the growing surfing culture in Hainan. Huang noted the evolution of surfing from a niche interest to a mainstream sport, highlighting the establishment of a National Surfing Team training base in the area. Following the discussions, participants had the opportunity to experience surfing firsthand in the wave pool, symbolizing a shift in Hainan's tourism from passive observation to active participation.
