A recent McKinsey report highlights that the European construction sector could also see significant benefits, with an estimated impact of around $126 billion. This transformation comes at a crucial time, as the AEC industry grapples with stagnant labor productivity, which has only increased by 10 percent since 2000, starkly contrasting with the 90 percent rise in manufacturing. The report emphasizes that AI could automate a substantial portion of nonphysical work within the AEC sector, with projections indicating that up to 50 percent of such tasks in architecture and engineering, and 39 percent in construction, could be automated. This shift could lead to enhanced efficiency and profitability for companies that leverage proprietary project data and optimize workflows.
