After Bluetooth cheating scam, Faridkot varsity plans exam jammers
In response to a recent cheating scandal involving Bluetooth devices, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) in Faridkot is considering the installation of jammers for future examinations. The decision comes after police uncovered a sophisticated cheating racket during a pharmacy officer exam, where candidates were caught using wireless micro-devices to gain an unfair advantage. Currently, BFUHS lacks the technology to effectively block electronic devices during exams, which has raised concerns about the integrity of the examination process. Despite receiving advance warnings about potential cheating attempts, the university's inadequate detection mechanisms allowed candidates to smuggle in these devices. Dr. Arvind Kumar, the university registrar, emphasized the importance of ensuring clean examinations, stating that they are in discussions with the state government to implement jammers. While the introduction of jammers may increase examination costs, Dr. Kumar believes that maintaining the integrity of the testing process is paramount. The recent incident saw 28 out of 6,474 candidates caught with Bluetooth devices, leading to the arrest of seven individuals involved in the cheating scheme. This situation highlights the ongoing challenges educational institutions face in combating technological advancements used for dishonest purposes.
