Colorado Springs Events This Weekend: OlymPeak City Field Day and Colorado State Fair
Colorado Springs residents have several options for the weekend of August 28-30, including family activities, local markets and nearby attractions. The third annual OlymPeak City Field Day will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. in Acacia Park downtown. The free event is expected to bring together hundreds of families for school relay competitions, vendors, food, activities and live entertainment. Acacia Park will also host the Colorado Springs Sunday Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Running every Sunday through October 25, the market features live music, locally grown produce, artisan foods and handmade goods. More than 60 vendors are expected at the park. In Black Forest, the Backyard Market will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. along Shoup Road. The weekly market, which continues through October 17, supports local producers and creators. This year’s markets are expected to include live music and more than 80 vendors. Other nearby choices include the North Pole Colorado Santa’s Workshop in Cascade, open Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The attraction is marking its 70th season and offers two dozen rides, as well as visits with Santa. The Colorado State Fair also returns to Pueblo, open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday, with rodeos, live music, food and carnival rides. For Colorado Springs, the schedule highlights accessible weekend activities close to home, especially free events in Acacia Park and opportunities to shop from local vendors.
