Another Scuba Diver Dies Near Whytecliff Park in Vancouver, Marking Fourth Fatality Since 2016
Tragedy has struck again at Whytecliff Park in West Vancouver, where a scuba diver lost his life, marking the second such incident this year. The diver, a man in his 60s, experienced distress while diving at this popular site around 10:45 a.m. on a Sunday. Despite the immediate response from fellow divers, West Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services, and the B.C. Emergency Health Services Air Ambulance, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have stated that while the investigation is ongoing, there are no early signs of foul play surrounding his sudden death. This incident follows another tragic event that occurred just over two months ago, when a 50-year-old diver also perished in the same waters. In that case, multiple agencies, including the Canadian Coast Guard, were involved in the rescue efforts but were ultimately unable to save the man. Since 2016, there have been four recorded fatalities in this area, raising concerns about safety for both novice and experienced divers. Whytecliff Park is renowned for its stunning underwater landscapes, attracting divers of all skill levels.
