Demographic imbalance in India needs more attention than population control: RSS chief

Pubblicato da Civic Voices · 26 giorni fa

Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), recently emphasized the importance of addressing demographic imbalance in India over mere population control. Speaking at a lecture series in Mysuru, he highlighted the impending challenges posed by a rapidly aging population, urging the government to consider long-term policies that focus on feeding and supporting future generations. Bhagwat criticized the current approach to population stabilization, suggesting that the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) needs more public awareness and effective implementation. In discussing the Common Civil Code, Bhagwat expressed optimism about its gradual adoption across India, citing successful implementations in states like Uttarakhand. He acknowledged the slow pace of democratic processes, emphasizing that change is not dictated by a single individual but by the collective will of the people. Addressing the issue of caste-based politics, Bhagwat pointed out that as long as society remains fixated on caste, politicians will exploit it for electoral gain. He advocated for promoting inter-caste marriages as a means to diminish caste consciousness. Ultimately, he stressed the necessity of fostering unity among diverse religions and communities, warning that without harmony, societal progress would be jeopardized.
