Stoney's Sports Bar Expands to Colorado Springs at Former Oskar Blues Location
Stoney’s, a popular sports bar chain, is set to expand into Colorado Springs, taking over the former Oskar Blues Grill & Brew location at 118 N. Tejon St. The new outpost, expected to open by the first week of the NFL season, will feature a menu of beer, bar fare, and a vibrant sports atmosphere. Owners Stoney Jesseph and Will Trautman were drawn to the space, noting that it already had the right feel for a Stoney’s establishment. They plan to enhance the interior with rustic barn wood, additional TVs, and sound systems, making it a welcoming environment for sports fans. The decision to establish a presence in Colorado Springs stemmed from several factors, including the city’s lively downtown area and its proximity to Colorado College. Jesseph and Trautman explored other locations, such as Highlands Ranch and Castle Rock, but ultimately felt that Colorado Springs offered a more business-friendly environment. The lower minimum wage in Colorado Springs, compared to Denver, also played a role in their decision. While Denver's minimum wage is significantly higher, the Springs’ rates are more manageable, allowing for better operational flexibility. This new location is not Stoney’s first venture into a second-generation space. The duo recently opened a bar in Sloan’s Lake, successfully transforming an existing venue into a profitable establishment. They believe that their business model, which focuses on revitalizing spaces with existing infrastructure, has proven effective. With the upcoming World Cup and the Denver Broncos aiming for another successful season, Jesseph and Trautman are optimistic about the potential for growth in Colorado Springs. Their enthusiasm for the project reflects a commitment to creating a lively gathering spot for the community, promising an exciting addition to the local dining and entertainment scene.
