Olympic Gold Medallist Matt Weston to Receive Honorary Degree in Canterbury
Olympic gold medallist Matt Weston is set to be honoured with an honorary degree from the University of Kent during the graduation ceremonies in Canterbury. This recognition comes shortly after Weston’s remarkable achievement at the Milan Cortina Winter Games, where he secured gold as part of the Team GB skeleton racing team. The ceremony will take place on Monday, and Weston will be awarded a Doctor of the University degree, celebrating his significant contributions to the world of sports. Weston’s journey to Olympic glory is inspiring. Originally from Crowborough, East Sussex, he was born in Redhill, Surrey, and attended Bennett Memorial School in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. His dedication to the sport culminated in a triumphant performance at his second Winter Olympics, where he claimed gold alongside his skeleton partner, Tabitha Stoecker. This victory is particularly noteworthy as Weston had previously finished in 15th place during the Beijing Olympics in 2022, showcasing his resilience and determination to improve.
