IIM-B Alumni Association Reports 1.8 Million Jobs Created and 1,200 Startups Funded in Bangalore
Bangalore, often referred to as the Silicon Valley of India, is home to the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B), which has become a significant hub for entrepreneurship and innovation. The IIM-B Alumni Association (IIMBAA) highlights the remarkable impact of its 30,000 members, who have collectively created over 1.8 million jobs across various sectors, including logistics, retail, education, and agri-tech. This vibrant ecosystem not only fosters economic growth but also drives social transformation, showcasing the power of collaboration among alumni. Notable alumni-led startups such as BigBasket, Delhivery, and Urban Ladder have revolutionized consumer markets while generating substantial employment opportunities, particularly in the gig economy. Beyond entrepreneurship, IIM-B graduates have been instrumental in nurturing India's startup landscape through their involvement in venture capital and private equity. Collectively, these investment firms manage assets worth approximately $15-20 billion, supporting more than 1,200 high-growth enterprises and creating around 500,000 direct jobs. The influence of IIM-B alumni extends into education and social sectors as well. Organizations like TeamLease and WhiteHat Jr. have reached over 50 million learners, while social initiatives have bolstered more than 1,000 NGOs and local governments, mobilizing over ₹2,000 crore in funding and impacting an estimated 10 million lives. Furthermore, agri-tech ventures initiated by alumni have integrated over 150,000 farmers into modern markets, enhancing agricultural value chains. To celebrate and further this spirit of innovation, IIMBAA is hosting the Global Leadership Conclave, IIMBue-2026, in Bangalore. This event will feature prominent speakers, including Jammu & Kashmir's Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Noel Naval Tata from Tata Trusts.
