Accra to Host Inaugural West Africa Youth Day in September 2026
Accra is set to host the inaugural West Africa Youth Day in September 2026, a significant event organized by the Regional Episcopal Conference of West Africa (RECOWA/CERAO) and the Regional Coordination of Catholic Youth in West Africa (RECCYWA). This 10-day gathering aims to deepen the spiritual lives of young Catholics, strengthen cross-cultural ties, and promote missionary engagement across the region. The first five days will involve pastoral immersion in dioceses such as Kumasi, Cape Coast, Koforidua, Ho, and Sekondi-Takoradi, featuring parish Masses, cultural exchanges, and community service. The event will culminate in Accra with four days of catechesis, Eucharistic celebrations, workshops, and cultural showcases. This initiative is expected to attract at least 100 delegates from each participating national conference, alongside hundreds of local youth from Ghana’s 20 dioceses and archdioceses.
