The Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) is set to reach a national U.S. television audience for the first time with its March 28 neutral-site game in Detroit between the New York Sirens and Montreal Victoire. The game will be broadcast on ION via Scripps Sports, which reaches 126 million households, marking a landmark moment for the league. This one-time deal could evolve into a longer-term partnership. Scripps, already a broadcaster of WNBA and NWSL games, has aired PWHL content in NHL markets and aims to further invest in women’s sports. The deal is supported by Ally Financial, a major sponsor committed to equal investment in men's and women's sports. The announcement follows growing enthusiasm for women’s hockey, especially after the U.S. team’s gold medal win at the recent Milan Cortina Olympics. Post-Olympics, the PWHL has seen sellouts and attendance records in several cities. The league currently airs games on YouTube in the U.S. and has national broadcast partners in Canada. With plans for expansion and rising viewership, PWHL hopes this partnership with Scripps will grow into a long-term broadcasting relationship.
