Effect of Digital Health Interventions on College Students’ Lifestyle Behaviors: Systematic Review
A systematic review has evaluated the effectiveness of digital health interventions (DHIs) aimed at improving lifestyle behaviors among college students, a crucial demographic transitioning into adulthood. The review analyzed 46 studies, revealing that DHIs, primarily delivered through mobile apps and web platforms, were particularly effective in enhancing physical activity and dietary habits. However, evidence for their impact on reducing sedentary behavior and improving sleep quality was less robust. The findings suggest that larger sample sizes and longer intervention durations tend to yield more positive outcomes. This research highlights the need for future DHIs to integrate multiple lifestyle behaviors and cater to the unique characteristics of college students, ultimately informing health promotion strategies in higher education.
