"Colour Field" Pavilion Brings Sustainable Design to Shoreditch
This summer, Shoreditch is set to become a vibrant hub of creativity with the arrival of "Colour Field," an innovative pavilion designed by the talented duo Objects of Common Interest. As part of the London Festival of Architecture, this captivating installation will be on display at Principal Place from June through September 2026, providing a unique opportunity for the public to pause and reflect amidst the hustle and bustle of urban life. What truly sets "Colour Field" apart is its commitment to sustainability. Constructed entirely from surplus materials such as marble, quartzite, and travertine offcuts sourced from Solid Nature, the pavilion transforms what would otherwise be discarded into a stunning and poetic landscape. The geometric stone blocks, arranged in varying heights and angles, create a miniature cityscape that serves not only as a visual feast but also as functional seating for visitors to enjoy. The inclusion of pampas grass softens the pavilion's edges, establishing a harmonious connection with nature.
